I liked the romance in this book, it was very well done; if a bit unoriginal. But the plot, the big problem in the book was not something I was entirely comfortable reading. Defiant check the content warnings. I also found the world building lacking but i didn’t really mind.

The characters were flat and emotionally unintelligent. Kindve annoying too. Oh, and the author of course couldn’t forget to include the sassy black best friend who’s only personality trait is supportive friend.

The writing was dull and lacked description. Someone said it was like reading a first draft lol. Very predictable as well.

The plot was more based around sex scenes than actual world building events.

The main character is a victim of severe trauma and basically gets groomed by this adult fae man who abandons her and then comes back to collect her debt. He’s still as possessive and macho as the other men but it’s okay cause he’s hot and her
mate
I felt like so much more power could’ve been given to the main character and her growth

An interesting take on the fae and the otherworldly. It’s a great love story with adventure. It did feel slow paced at times and some of the logic didn’t make much sense if I thought about it too hard. There could have been more world building and character development but overall a nice, easy read.

I liked it but didn't love it. The storyline was interesting, some minor plot twists kept it interesting, love Callie as a character, although is story may be considered problematic due to
the relationship between Callie and Desmond beginning when she was 16/17, classic "hundreds of years old male love interest" trope, and that it could be considered unrealistic and cliche how quickly she's able to come to terms with her trauma because she's with Des

I'll continue go read the rest of the series to see where it goes, especially after the last few chapters where the plot kicked in more.

I thought this book was going to be kinda fun and I heard it was very spicy but the romance was very clean (felt like YA) and the romance was boring.

Also, the second-hand embarrassment experienced while reading the flashbacks where to seven years ago, was excruciating.

**also the book had multiple typos🥴

Stereotypical (at best) depiction of a black female character, racist at worse, definitely offensive. Grooming vibes, didn't love that she was a teenager when they fell in love.
