We are introduced to the life of the survivors within the valley and a hole set of new characters.
The story is once again very good, captivating and interesting.

I really enjoy Brooks' series - especially this one. So many of the characters are very interesting. I am eager to read the next one in this series, to find out what happens.

It started off slow, and I wondered if my fascination with Terry Brooks was finally beginning to wane. Halfway in I realized this wasn't the case, and by the end, I found my eyes racing across the pages to see how things were going to conclude.

Terry has brought things full circle with his Shannara and Word/Void books... This two book series seems to be tying it all together very nicely. Excited to read Measure Of The Magic!

I would have liked to give this a 3.75, but that isn't a possibility. I love Shannara. It was my introduction to fantasy, so I have a soft spot for this series. Brooks is one of the best for making landscapes come alive. My only complaints arethat it didn't keep me so engrossed that I couldn't put it down and some of the events were, for me, predictable. That being said, I still think it's a very good entry into the series.

Decent fantasy novel about the burden of responsibility and the desire to remain sheltered and cut-off from the world. (3/5)

Good continuation of the story but a slower read especially compared to the genesis trilogy. Picks up better in the last quarter.
