Another great book from Andy Weir! Project Hail Mary was my favorite sci-fi book to date, so I was extremely excited to read The Martian. I love all of the nerdy scientific details, and the story was ever changing, making for a great and captivating reading experience. This book explores human nature, in a positive way, and it is refreshing. Overall, can’t recommend enough!

I wasn´t sure if I was going to like the problem-solution, problem-solution structure of the book, but i think it did a good job at keeping the tension there. I loved the scientific explanations of his solutions, it rooted the story into reality and gave it credibility. I would have liked to see more emotion in the main character, other than anger and humor. He's stuck on Mars and he barely thinks about his family/friends, or his past. I imagine the author did this so that everyone could relate to him, but it honestly took me a little bit out of the story. All in all it was an easy read that grabbed and entertained me.
I watched the movie a few years ago but i honestly can't remember it so i can't compare them.

The writing was hilarious and I really wish the main character was a real person. I felt like I learned a lot but I wasn't overly scientific or boring.

Im not scientific in the least but enjoyed every minute of this audiobook. I was so drawn into this story and how it would eventually end. I was pulling for the main character throughout. It was so realistic for me, i marvel at the miracles of science. This book was originally self published, what a fantastic success!
