Really enjoyed this one. Steamy with a good story and different plot from the many romances I've read in the past year. It's a familiar trope, but the details set it apart and I really enjoyed them. Not a new favorite...but definitely something I would read/listen to again. I listened to the audiobook and I definitely preferred the female narrator vs the male narrator on this one...but got used to him as the story went on.

Light hearted and low angst

FMC works in private equity, is stressed and hates her job. MMC is a musician and teacher and eventually gets signed as a song writer to a record label. Accidental pregnancy, external family drama.

This book. I have to get my thoughts together...it's book hangover inducing. This story is insta-love(ish), great characters, great external conflict, and wonderful growth within all the characters. One of my favorite things about it is the excellent communication between the characters. Logan is sweet and possessive. On the outside he seems like a genuine guy: sweet, caring...on the inside..he's the same but very alpha. This book tugged on my heart strings in more ways than one.

Beautiful story, Logan and Charlotte's story got to my heart. Their meeting was meant to be, they need each other, and yet they turn their lives upside down, they will give you a ride on a roller-coaster of emotions from start to end. I love Melanie Moreland's writing, it brings the story to life and you live every word she writes. Second chances are sometimes the best way for a relationship and this story proves it. You will read this story and will want more because it will just make you feel everything, this is one book you will re-read. Brilliant 5-star recommendation!

I found another go to author!

I picked this book up on a whim after reading another book from this author. I have to say, that last minute decision isn't something I regret.

This follows our heroine Lottie, a woman jaded with her unfulfilling career and strained relationship with her parents. Every day after work, she stops at the subway station to listen to Logan, a street performer with whom she is captivated with. Little does she know, Logan himself has been noticing her and is entranced by her right back. One particular and tiresome evening when Lottie falls asleep at the station marks the start of romance so sweet it can tug on one's heart strings.

This book offers a very low angst, low stakes insta love romance. It is full of sweet moments with a kick of spice that are easy to get lost into. I have to admit though, if you are looking for a book that will blow your mind plot-wise, I don't think this is perfect book to satisfy that. I personally think the main plot and selling point here is the overall sweet and cuddly aspect of the romance.

I'm definitely going to dig into more of Melanie Moreland's backlist after this. I'm excited to read more from this author for those days when I just need a feel-good story that is relatively easy to fly through!

I found this book enjoyable for the most part but I did find myself a little bored at times. Some reviews made it seem like it was either fantastic or terrible which made me nervous going in but I thought it was a short sweet read that reminded me of a telenovela. I think it comes down to preference. If you want a short insta love romance without a lot of angst between the two mains then you might like this. If you want more of a slow build romance with a grounded plot then I would say this one is a pass.

Instalove, the sweetest subway serenading hero ever and a woman dealing with grief all collide in this book. It was so good and I’m glad I was in the mood for pure adorable romantic moves, it could have been cheesy, but was actually wonderful.

Lottie is worn out. She hates her job, feels guilt over her brothers death and is just getting by. The only thing getting her through the day is the man playing guitar and singing at the subway station every night.

I wanted to like Melanie Moreland's "Heart Strings" more than I actually did. Unfortunately, I found both of the main characters, Logan and Lottie, to be annoying and unlikable, I hated the insta-lust/love nature of their relationship, and most of the angst just seemed unnecessary IMO. I had to force myself to keep reading at times. I can't say that this is a completely terrible book because the writing itself was mostly good, and the story will certainly appeal to some readers. However, it was a bad match for me.

Logan annoyed me because he was so alpha and possessive of Lottie as soon as they started dating; he even started calling her his girlfriend less than 24 hours after they spoke for the first time! Later in the book, Logan didn't bother to ask Lottie what she wanted, just informed her that they would be moving in together and getting engaged. Like the idiot pushover she was, Lottie went along with it and even let him throw her a "surprise" wedding in which she wasn't allowed to choose anything but her dress. I can see how some readers might consider that romantic - Logan supposedly didn't want Lottie to stress over the wedding details - but personally, I would hate it, and it just seemed like another example of Logan's controlling behavior to me. In addition to all of that, it was really creepy how Logan followed Lottie around and spied on her without her knowledge, both before and after they started dating.

As for Lottie, she would have been better off finding a good therapist to help her cope with her grief and learn to stand up for herself instead of letting Logan basically take over her life for her. I was genuinely sad about her brother's death and the devastation it brought on her family, but no one forced Lottie to go to business school or take a job in her father's company. She was unhappy mostly because of her own choices, and she could have made different ones at any time. However, rather than growing a backbone, Lottie just went from trying to please her parents to trying to please Logan. The fact that she ended up getting some of the things she wanted along the way was almost an accident.

Overall, I've previously read and enjoyed other books by this author, but sadly this one just wasn't for me. While I can't personally recommend "Heart Strings," I do think it will appeal to fans of alpha heroes and/or the insta-love trope.

I'm a certified cover whore (apparently) because this brooding sexy guy and his indecent show of perfect forearms and biceps made me one-click this book without even reading the blurb.
Now, I do LOVED the premise. Absolutely loved it even but man, the story didn't deliver anything at all except saccharingly sweet nonsense!
Insta-lust, insta-love mixed with a hero depicted more like a creeper than anything else and a heroine living in her head 90% of the book made an altogether mess of something that I imagined would be... mysterious, conflicted, poignant, sweet, sexy. None of that. The book was boringly sweet.

If an eye-roll was a book. This would be it.
