Despite being marketed as a positive reinforcement based book, a large amount of this is based on dominance theory or punishing your dog (e.g. using coin-filled cans). What remains is basic and filled with giant leaps (want your dog to do a 30 min down-stay? Have them do a 5 min down-stay first and build up from there!). Even for a book 22 years out of date, this is a bit of a mess.
