YA + coming of age + high school dances!

As the newly appointed student council president, Wren’s first order of business: abolish the annual student Valentine’s Day dance. It’s a nightmare as an asexual, and a drain of resources.

The problem: the vice president, Leo, has a solution to the money issue. Having an anonymous “not a dating” app sponsor the dance.

Wren does research and signs up for the app, only to develop feelings for someone he connects with.

I absolutely loved this one and definitely recommend it!

Sometimes inner dialogue in a book can drive me nuts, but in this one it just works. I don’t know if it’s also being queer & ace, but I loved Wren’s inner dialogue as he navigated being ace, a high school dance usually centered on relationships, and figuring out feelings for someone while being ace.

As a reader, you pretty much know who the anonymous person Wren is talking to through the app, and I loved that we got the dynamic of seeing them connect at a digital level and also in person.

I’m obsessed with the fact DeWitt writes YA with ace MCs, and I can’t wait to see what’s next as I loved this one and Ace’s Wild!

I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH IT GAVE MY HEART JOY

Dedication: for Michael
1st sentence: “there’s something about decision making and running full tilt down an empty hallway that doesn’t pair well.”

Wow, I loved this book. I love Wren Martin, even if he is an insufferable grouch.  The writing style is so fresh, and interesting, I was captivated the whole time.
