I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book but was still a fun read. It was a bit slow in places, especially when the characters are seeking refuge in the court of King Etristo. The storyline slows down as Theo goes through the charade of looking for a husband and ally.
The magic system was expanded a little more but not as much as I would have liked. The love triangle at this point just feels pointless and is playing a little more into the teen angst. Just make your mind up Theo for goodness sake. I think the character of Soren is much more interesting than Blaise, who is a bit of a martyr. Theo's relationship with Cress ihas more of a pull.
Still intrigued to see where the story goes, especially with how it ended.
Moderate: War, Death of parent, and Death

Because it's YA most things aren't described in too much detail but just a heads up that it is thererosaschaos's review against another edition
