I usually enjoy magical realism, and I did really enjoy this book. The characters were nicely multi-dimensional and felt true to the way humans really are, with their mix of complex behaviors and choices. The story was interesting. There were a few things I expected to come back around at the end that didn't, and the end section felt a little less filled out than the rest of the book. But it was quite a nice surprise of a book, considering I knew nothing about it before I started reading.
