I enjoyed the book, but there’s some disappointing that the side characters of the first novel have essentially been left by the wayside. Also, it would be preferable for the protagonist to win every now and again, but I guess that is the trouble with sticking close to an Alternate History.

Another absolutely terrific entry into this wonderful series! This one is full of action and daring-do, being simultaneously a heist novel, an adventure read, and a book of war. The stakes are at perhaps highest level so far, and the characters continue to be fully realized. Black Powder War picks up right where Throne of Jade left off, something I appreciated greatly. While each of these books tells a solid story on its own, they come together to tell a truly epic tale.

With dragons! Very excited for Iskierka.
