If you're looking for a long literature review it's a great book, if you're expecting him to construct an argument of any kind you'll be disappointed.

Well written, exhaustively researched, and grim. A lot of the book feels like a barrage of terrible facts, but Milman does wrap things up by discussing what we need to do to turn things around.

A great book for anyone who appreciates insects of all kinds!
The narration was very clear and easy on the ears.
I learned so much from this book about bees and butterflies, among other insects. The final chapters really kept my attention with the vast amount of facts being thrown at me from every angle. It was so fascinating. Would even consider re-reading, which I rarely do.
This book is certainly not for everyone, but I gave it a chance and really enjoyed it.

I listens to this via audio book and I’m glad I stuck with it. The first 50% was very repetitive but the latter half was informative! I appreciated learning more about a topic I was previously unaware.

*Review based on experiencing the book as an audiobook

This is one of those books that I finished because of the principle of finishing it and not out of any enjoyment. I agree with other reviewers that the pacing and structure of this book felt choppy and disjointed, and really was just a giant collect of the results of a number of studies. I get it - conservation is bleak and there are no promises of a brighter future, but I feel like there could have been more engaging ways of conveying that message. The end of the book took a turn and focused on specific species, people, and stories, which I wish had been the way the whole book was written because I feel like I would have enjoyed it much more.
