What a gorgeous story! Poe's writing is just as potent in this day and age. I loved the descriptions of Lady Liegia, even if the narrator is not fully reliable he speaks of he so amazingly fond of her making it a pleasure to read in trying to envision what this wonderful woman would have been like. What makes this story interesting is you have to wonder what is going on with the narrator when
Spoiler Lady Rowena dies. Does she really come back to life or is he succumbed to opium and grief which truly starts to take his toll?

I like it! Liked it more after I looked up what the heck most of it meant and why/how the ending happened :)

Poe has such a distinct style. I always enjoy his work! Obviously this is a bit lesser known than many of his other literary works, but I encourage everyone to read it!

I love Poe’s writing. I feel he really knows how to grasp character and atmosphere and I love how this story demonstrates the power of memory and how sometimes we cannot tell the difference between what’s real and what isn’t. I definitely recommend giving this a read!
dark mysterious tense slow-paced

This isn't one of my favorite Poe stories but it's not bad. Ligeia, the story and the title character, deliver effective creeps, but this story doesn't stick with you like his greater works do.

i don't really into gothic beforehand, but EAP's works are interesting and challenging—like i imagined it, i found the uneasiness feeling been lingering in my soul during reading the Ligeia and other tales. Ligeia gave me more sadness, loss, hopeless than "horror".
