This is a story with an explosive chemistry between the mc’s. And because of that it ends up being a romance with a lot of hot sex scenes 🔥🔥🔥 besides the burning chemistry between the two female mc’s you have an interesting story about a law firm and a scorned husband too.
The audiobook version was amazingly narrated by Anastasia Watley. Both the story and the narration are given a solid 5 ⭐️ from me

The X Ingredient is a spicy, sapphic Devil Wears Prada-esque erotica romance. We have the ice-queen boss buried deep in comphet and her much younger new personal assistant who just so happens to be an out lesbian. This is quite the age gap love story with an 18 year difference between our two MCs. I don’t mind age gap stories (with adult age gaps) but I know for some that’s a deal breaker.
The spice was spicing, the steam was steaming and the sapphics were doing some very sapphic things to each other. In that way, the *plot* was excellent. If you enjoy books that are sex heavy and plot light, this one will be right up your alley. The non-sexy plot tho I was pretty indifferent to. Not much else going on outside of the intimate relationship, so if you’re looking for huge world building or plot progression this one may miss the mark. I knew this was an erotic romance when I downloaded the audiobook, so my expectations were completely met. It was hot ✅ and it was gay ✅

Holy cow!!!! 4.5 stars on this one friends!! The spice levels are off the chart and I’m here for it!!
I listened to this on audible and damn!!! Diana and Lori have insane chemistry. I would have liked more plot to this but it was just enough!

I love workplace romances, the secrecy around them, the forbidden and this story has all of it. I enjoyed reading how Diana icyness melted little by little for Laurie.
Also, I love queer awakening stories and this one was good. The way Diana, with Laurie's help, started to know and understand part of herself, how all the pieces started to fall into place and a lot of things started to make sense to her.
It's my first book by the author and I really enjoyed it.
Also, I read some reviews mentioning that this book was originally The Devil Wears Prada fanfiction and that made me like it more. Some scenes are even similar but reimagined.

Well this book was fun!
Here we have a sapphic, workplace, big age gap, lesbian awakening, erotic novel about a boss that doesn't know she's into women, and the assistant that proves to her that she is.
I did pair the kindle version with the audio version and Anastasia Watley does an incredible job! Being able to go back and forth on POVs with different voices throughout the book was pretty masterful. It was so well done and performed.
Diana is a high powered lawyer in Atlanta looking for an assistant and Laurie, pink haired and starry eyed needs a job. Diana is immediately drawn to her but also married to a man, and upon separating from him decides to get into an "arrangement" with Laurie. A very erotic and sexy arrangement.
This book is very spicy and full of workplace drama. I also loved that the "boss" in this book was not the one in control in the bedroom which fit as it's Diana that's coming to grips with her sexuality.
I only took off a star because I like more emotions... but it was still so good, so hot, such a great audio version!
Thanks to NetGalley for the E-Book version!

I love an Ice Queen. The X Ingredient was my first read of 2022, okay technically I listened to it, and I have no regrets.
Laurie Holcombe is smart, efficient, and desperately in need of a job. It’s too bad that her new boss Diana Parker doesn’t think she is suitable for it. Against her better judgment Diana hires Laurie and ends up getting more than she bargained for.
This book is an office romance, which I love but is also tricky. Given the dynamics between a boss and her employee, the author has to walk a fine line between attraction and ethics.
Something I really appreciated in this book is the awareness the MCs had, and not only of how they would look if people found out. Laurie’s mental state throughout the book and the steps she took to protect herself were fascinating.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it was a great way to start a new year.
