Pretty fun stuff here! I've never read wuxia, though I've had a long time interest in it, so it's interesting to come at one of the most famous series in the genre.
It's kind of what you'd expect while also being more complicated--probably to a fault--and interesting than expected. It's built on very familiar kinds of tropes, but the cast is just so likable and fun and chaotic that you're having a great time with them as you go along.
I do think the massive cast and the complex web of relationships becomes a bit tricky to follow at parts, especially when a dozen new martial artists are all thrown together into a scene. It becomes a bit cumbersome! Especially because a lot of the introductions and relationships seem to not matter right away, so it just feels like words upon words. Add to that all the names of moves and fighting schools and so on and you're kind of just spacing out through parts of the novel.
But, yeah, it consistently isn't what I expected it to be, but I'm liking it quite a bit.
