I felt like because this didn’t have enough focus on either of the twisty plot points that the ending fell a little flat for me. But since there should be a sequel coming out I’m definitely interested in reading it.

Pre-ordered the german translation (Der rote Apfel which translates in english to The red apple), which is supposed to be published on August 10th, 2020, to be downloaded on my Tolino ebook reader.
Started this (Tuesday August 25th, 2020). Review will be in English and a translation in German as an addition.

A fairly standard thriller, though I appreciated the attempts at giving us a complex villain in both Yi Byeongdo and Hayeong by exploring the ways in which trauma affects the psyche—and where, exactly, the line is drawn before someone can no longer be "saved." Nothing was really surprising, and I think Seonkyeong made quite a few stupid choices to end up where she did at the end of the novel, but it was still an enjoyable read.

If you like books like Baby Teeth or creepy children in general, or if you liked the Hannibal franchise (which is referenced a few times here), then this book is probably right up your alley.

This book was fine, I liked a few elements but overall I thought it was clichМ©d, the twists were too obvious and the translation was not good. Oh well.

Probably more like 1.5 but I'm really angry at the ending. I was disappointed by this book. I thought it was leading somewhere suspenseful and exciting but it was so cerebral. But not even cerebral in a good way, more like cerebral in a drugstore pop psychology way.

I think the ending was the most frustrating. After realizing the step daughter had poisoned her family and already showing you were scared of her, why would you take the glass of milk? So stupid! The whole thing just lacked believability.

The last sentence gave me chills , and I think this book really worked better as an audiobook
