It's a pretty rote fantasy romp and a staple from my childhood. Great fun and a long series.

This series was a favorite of mine as a kid. Rereading it now I’m surprised by how gruesome it can be at times. I would say this is similar to the Ranger’s Apprentice series. It’s a great story about a boy who goes on a quest to save his homeland. I may finish rereading the series later but for now I’ll stop here at the fourth book. I’m glad I got the chance to reread it.

This was one of my favorite book series when I was younger. It was fun to read it to my little brother. Even if it took us a few years. XD

Reading these again as an adult, they are definitely a little simpler, but the world and the ideas are so fantastically creative and still an absolute joy to read.  Lief, Jasmine, and Barda are all immensely likeable main characters and balance each other out well.  The creatures and world of this story are lush and draw you in.  I will always love this series.

Lief and his companions must locate the seven lost gems in the Belt of Deltora so that the evil Shadow Lord may be overthrown once again. This is a cute series for younger readers. Both boys and girls will enjoy it.
