What did I think about Ellie, Engineer: The Next Level?
I received this book as an advanced review copy (ARC) from Netgalley. I’ve started to request more books for younger readers, which I just adore personally, but love finding great books like this for my daughters!

This book, and the character of Ellie, is adorable. I love the idea of a STEM book that is so endearing. Science was never my own personal strength, and with my husband being an Engineer I hope his influence will help this to be an interest of the girls. I received this book as an ebook but will be buying this series to hold onto for my girls as I believe it has some amazing messages all wrapped up in a fun book.

I enjoyed the dynamic of Ellie and her friends, and how they approached the false assumptions that Mrs Curran made about Ellie and Toby. What a great book to show girls that they can make things, have tools and come up with inventive ideas. Although the pictures in the book were limited, the descriptions were well written where I could pictures the pickles spilling all over, and Mrs Curran walking around in her impractical high heels.

What didn’t I like? Well, of the story itself there really wasn’t anything. I think it’s perfect for the recommended age, and would be a great read along/read aloud book even younger than that. I suppose if I were to say something I think it’s that these are the types of books that you need to have a hard copy of. To be able to appreciate the drawings of Ellie’s inventions.

Gosh, I’m so glad that Bloomsbury Children’s Books and Netgalley approved me to read this book and sent me a copy to read and give my honest review. You’ll have to let me know if you’re interested in seeing more of this level of books for reviews!

Memorable Quote: “It’s never right to make assumptions about somebody,” he said firmly. “Everyone is who they are, and who they are is perfect.”

This book made me cry a little bit because I Sure Do Wish I Could Have Read This As A Kid (it combines crafting and engineering in a way i would have Loved)
