With a week to prove Scratch’s innocence, Logan, Zoe, and Blue set out on another adventure to prove what really happened to Pelly. While searching for clues, they stumble across Marco, a wererooster, and the rest of his family who are werecreatures.

This entire series has had a really fun element to it. The mythical creatures and the people involved in the story are very well written. I loved the dramatic phoenix in this book. The mystery behind the saboteurs increase in this volume and the main characters draw closer to the truth. The book is very much an easy read that promises lot of fun and adventure along the way.

This answered every mystery in the series. It takes the next to see what will the Menagerie do with those answers. A satisfying book, but a bit predictable, I knew who was behind all the trouble surrounding the Menagerie. This book clarified the family tree of the Kahns. It taught a lot about the government agencies behind the Menageries. There is always a conspiracy theory group:/

Second review:

Son Holden wanted to go back to this series and give it another try since we stopped and restarted midway through last time. He liked it a lot better this time and wants to push on to #3. Me, I can still take it or leave it.

First Review:

Bit of a slow read for us. Paused to read something else, then came back to finish. We prefer Sutherland's Wings of Fire series.

Another volume that covers the events of only a few days - in this case, a period of six days. The action picks up almost exactly where the previous volume leaves off, save that the main characters are now standing outside the building. Some of the loose ends from the previous volume are addressed, but not completely. I suspect we'll hear more about that in the final volume. I felt the pacing in this volume wasn't quite as good as the first, but the characterization and plot development were definitely on target.

🐓Continues directly after 1st book.
🐓Faster-paced.
🐓Good humour; perfect for youngsters.
🐓Good friendships & character interaction.
🐓Disappointed w/lack of plot progression in regards to MC’s family.
🐓Slightly predictable.
🐓Magical creatures have fun & strange personas.
🐓Prose is flowing but slightly bland.
🐓South Asian character has stereotypical qualities I didn’t care for, but they’re vague.
🐓Wish there was more description of physical traits of characters instead of vague snippets as more than a couple appear to be diverse in nature, but difficult to be 100% sure.
🐓4 feathers outta 5!
