I was fairly puzzled when I started this book. The main character was going on about her trousseau and her debutante ball, but it was written in 1980. Turns out it was set in 1906, which wasn't clear from the cover or the first couple of pages. Mystery and intrigue during the San Francisco earthquake. It wasn't a bad read, and the setting was the best thing about it. But the plot was really weak and the ending was lame.
