Compared to the first book this one wasn’t as great, mostly because I felt it was a bit slow and I was so mad at why Celaena wrote off Chaol. I hate misunderstanding tropes, she went bezerk before she even talked to him about it, and Celaena is just so wishy washy about who she is, what she stands for, what she even wants. spoiler: she has no idea yet so we’ll see how the next one pans out for her

This book made me feel so many things, especially with Chaol and Celeana. They were adorable, from the first book i could tell something was going to happen between them, but when Chaol got kidnapped and celeana came to get him, and then Nehemia dying! like i was in shock, complete shock, that entire part was very heart wrenching. Then with Archer, that little shit. I had a bad feeling from him the start, i was feeling the anger that Celeana was. I was just like "KILL HIM ALREADY, HE DESERVES TO DIE" and then he did i was like "YES" because that little bin chicken was the worst i hate him so much, i wanted to punch something because he made Chaol and Celeana's relationship never be the same again and i hate him because i love them together their were cute. And at the end when Celeana turned into a fae, i wasn't surprised because i got spoilers from another review on here! and didn't put in the spoiler section! anyways but then Chaol getting Celeana to go to wendlyn, like i know that he was trying to protect her but now she has to kill the royal family there?! like??? and then it ends with Finding out that Celeana is Aelin?! this book was just made so much emotions rise in me and i loved this book, alot.

This book was a emotional rollercoaster, it had so many plot twist, heartbreak and shocking moments. I really liked the book, i enjoyed it more than the first one actually. I just couldn't stop reading it, i was glued to it and couldn't stop until i finished it.

The second book started not long after the first, with the King’s Champion taking hits off a list. Only she wasn’t.

I think the incident with the carnival is one of the most vivid memories I have from the whole series. Along with the wearhouse scene. The set up is really great for such a pivotal turning point in Celaena’s journey.

Chaol having to deal with his lawful nature was just as hard to go through the second time as it was the first. His self deprecation after Neimiah died is SO much. He does absolutely nothing and basically disappears for multiple  chapters. Why didn’t he fight for her?!

Dorian’s journey in this book is an interesting one. Going from infatuated playboy to someone with their own dark secret was a great arc. But the unresolved attraction Boggs his character down.

The arc with Chaol was beautiful, and devastating. I forgot how intense it was.

I was disappointed that the only diverse main character in the book was used as a tool to further the plot in the way they were. It’s almost like she was becoming too good of a character, more noble than the FMC, and had to be taken out.

It’s not my favorite, but this book has officially gotten me invested in the series!

<spoilers>
 I saw her true name coming, there were a lot of hints throughout the book. But the fact that she is fae, was a bit of a surprise, looking back, there were a few hints for that too, but I just missed them cause I was waiting for the name reveal.

But also, Dorian has magic? That was a shocker!!! I can’t wait to see how all the magic plays out!

I had a harder time getting through this book than any other SJM book. That being said, it was still a good book, and vital to the storyline for the rest of the series. This book is definitely the turning point of the storyline.
