I liked this one more than the first. Very engaging, tho I didn't quite buy the sudden romance w *you know who* but had fun with it anyway. Maas somehow makes very predictable twists still fun to uncover. The characters were also well developed in this one.

Keep in mind that this is a problematic author and I’m reading this from a library outlet so I’m not profiting SJM- I like the development of Chaol's character and the relationships in the book. Last 100 pages hurt a bit.
Chaol’s actions were completely in character which made it hurt more. Didn’t like the fact that the sole poc character was killed to further the white mc’s storyline but it’s SJM.

This is my second time reading this book. Still love it. That last chapter - chefs kiss. There are two things that bother me though…
1st. Mort is literally useless. He could have not existed in this book, and nothing would change. I don’t get the point of him. 2nd. I felt like Celaena should’ve been more upset about finding out Nehemia betrayed her all that time. It doesn’t feel like it fits her character to just look past that and still hold all the love for her.
Cannot wait for the next one.
