I read this for my theatre class. I thought that I would have a hard time understanding the language since it was written around 420 BCE and I have a hard time understanding Shakespeare. BUT IT WAS SO EASY TO READ which I did not expect and the story was so tragic. I have heard of the Oedipus complex so I kind of predicted that Jocasta was his mother but the events that occurred at the end were heartbreaking. There were a lot of good life lessons in this play which I appreciated such as to live in the present, you have free will, not to let go of good friends in an instant, etc. I also watched the production which I would highly recommend (the 1957 British one) as it had great costumes and acting. I enjoyed it!

incestuous rex--sorry, oedipus rex is the best tragedy i've read.

was this the hamilton for ancient greece? it's a play about a historical figure with singing. so i think this is the hamilton of antiquity.
