End of the affair: the final (at the time) episode and Burke comes back, Mary Ann gets skittish, Mouse goes domestic and Mona reunites with Mrs Madrigal on a Lesbian vacation. Quaint with references to the Dukakis candidacy, bleepers, AZT and outing, Sure Of You still hums with joie de vivre and has the comfortable feel of a well-worn winter coat or a fireside rug you know won’t give you carpet burns. It lacks the narrative drive of the series’s earlier volumes but that’s alright because it’s about conclusions and getting ready to move on - for now at least. Like the feeling when you’ve finally zipped the suitcase shut just as the airport taxi arrives. A bientôt.

glorious

Great fun - need to go back and read the others in the series . Works well as a standalone if you don’t know the characters

I like that this one gets a bit more political with the story. Because being gay is a political act. And this one also feels like a fitting end to the series, even though it didn't end up being an end to the series. But for many years, it was. And so I'm gonna think of it as one. This books are just a fun, breezy read. I love spending time with these characters and this world that Maupin has created. And as a long time SF resident, I enjoy reading about places I've been and neighborhoods I know and love.
