After reading HILO ... feels like a cheap knock-off. Wish there had been more of a reveal at the end.

This is the first in a series about a boy from the ocean named Mermin. When three kids discover a strange looking boy on the beach they agree to take him home after the strange boys saves one of the others, Pete, from a shark. The strange boy introduces himself as Mermin, and while he was found on the beach and he beat a shark he has a strange fear of the water. Not wanting to stay home alone, Mermin insists on going to school with the kids but he keeps getting them in trouble and soon Pete's parents are questioning if he should continue to stay with them. Pete's parents aren't the only ones questioning as Mermin's parents want him back home and they have sent some crazy sea creatures to drag him back home.
Fun bright illustrations.
Good for ages 8 and up. Good for boys and reluctant readers.
