Well, this book was fantastic. Very well written and some of the prose was so lovely! I swooned several times. Not even joking.
The characters were well written and totally believable. I really loved how both delicate and strong Evelyn was. Don't even get me started on Lucas, a total dream boat. He can tame my horse any day, yee haw! (Trivia! Did you know that yee and haw are actually directional queues for working horses? Cool right!)
There were some technical issues with some terms, but not serious. When you're training a horse, you don't want to use reins. You'll be using a halter and lead rope, maybe a chain for a stallion. Not reins. But that's getting a little into nitpicking.
The story progressed well, and her plot was intriguing and interesting. The villain was a little unconvincing, and as a genius, I thought he would have been more formidable. However, it wasn't grievous enough to impact the story or my enjoyment of it. All in all I'll totally be reading more of Josie Jade, it will be great to see what she does with the other characters in this series!
If you love romantic suspense, love a good cowboy, and have a soft spot for helping those in need, this is the book for you!

I was very lucky to get this book on a giveaway hosted by Janie Crouch on this app and am extremely happy because it was amazing.
This book surprised me in the best way possible and I'll definitely read the rest of the series. It's the perfect mix of action and romance in a small town and I am convinced there was a thin layer of crack between the lines.
It's a mix of Elsie Silver and perhaps lighter (in themes) Sinners Duet by Sophie Lark.
Update on 13th December 2023: Though I loved the story in this one and enjoyed the rest of the series, this was the only 5 star read. My expectations were set quite high, but the series became repetitive.
