Silly book read for Christmas reading challenge

I hated it a lot but also I couldn't stop reading. I'm not one for cheesy romance novels but this was the only Christmas book I could get my hands on at the moment.
Things I hated:
- The FBI terrorist plot line was suuuuper stupid. The entire time I was hoping she would be a terrorist so that the story would be more interesting. The FBI agents were just stupid. Why did they think she was a terrorist? I get that she was the wrong woman but is the FBI THIS stupid? If we were in 17th century GB, this book would be treason.
- They were cute at times but it felt s o forced whenever they admitted their feelings or had "sexual tension." I might just be a prude but I cringed every time.
- The characters were unlikable and didn't talk like real people. Why did she need to argue with Stephanie in the beginning? Why did she immediately assume Stephanie was a sexist? Why was Dash so rude to Ash the entire time? I understand that its "flirting" but whenever she was genuinely upset about something he brushed her off with that "smile." Maybe I'm nitpicking but I wanted to fall in love with the couple and the characters. I wanted to live vicariously through them. That's the point of these books.

Things I liked:
-Dash seemed to be a gentleman so it's a shame he is such a sexist
-The writing was compelling and I couldn't stop reading it.
- I like Christmas and dogs

A blogon: http://teklakonyvei.blogspot.hu/2016/12/debbie-macomber-elso-ho.html

Lots of characters for such a short book.

I only finished it because I want to compare it to the movie because what else do I have to fill my time this Christmas

edit: the movie was worse, because it makes even less narrative sense than the book, but that makes it a fun ride to yell/groan at (admittedly they fixed one or two issues that the book had)

Read in audiobook format

How is this a #1 bestselling author? It was inane. I was expecting something silly and sappy and seasonal. Instead it was dreadful.
