Plot
Kept me engaged while reading on the beach. I liked the historical story much more than the present-day story. Haven was a boring main character and I was expecting more high-stakes deep-sea diving adventures. But the plot moves quickly and the Amalfi Coast vibes make for an enjoyable beach read.

It was honestly really good, I was really into it, but somehow there's a little something missing to be a 5 stars favorite - and I can't find what's missing for me.
I really enjoyed the double timeline and that's what Sarah Penner does well: there is a link, subtle at first, between both temporality that slowly starts to be stronger, and finally end up tying both together. But as always, I've been really into the historical timeline, so with Mari and Holmes POV, instead of Haven's nowadays chapters. Their story was captivating and so interesting! Mari was touching, her story, her will to sacrifice, to make sure other streghes are safe even if she has to suffer from it. I really enjoyed it.

This had a very intriguing premise and I loved the scenery but I am just not feeling it . I am not really invested in the characters of both timelines and the plot is barely moving at lest in the present day timeline. It's sad cause many people seem to have liked it but am really disinterested in continuing it.
