I think this is a great summer read. It’s fast and adventurous and mysterious and captivating. It was a bit slow in the beginning. I also found the main character kind of annoying, unfortunately. I wanted to rate this higher because I absolutely loved the characters and the story of the past. I also loved the investigations into the past. But, the future story is slow. I felt like the beginning was too slow, the middle was great, and the end felt like it was trying to be wrapped in a perfect bow. I felt that could have been fleshed out better instead of being dragged out.

Wow this was an incredible book. I loved it so much. The now and the 1821 time periods had amazing characters and plot. Loved it entirely. Great story and dialogue and characters. It was a fascinating story all around.

This was so fun and interesting. I enjoyed reading both timelines and all POVs. Mari and Holmes story was particularly touching but Haven’s exploration and piecing things together was also great. I really didn’t want to put this down once I got into the thick of it.
