I usually love Hazel Gaynor's books and the story is good, the writing is excellent. I just felt like several of the characters made decisions that didn't make any sense or seemed unnecessary.
Simply written. Simply told. Simply delightful. I really enjoyed this light, easy story. I thought the story would focus on Grace Kelly (big fan here), but it was more about fictional characters Sophie and James and I was ok with that.
If the book didn't give me so many Hitchcock vibes, I probably would have rated it a 3 or 3.5. But it did! Grace Kelly, Cannes, James could clearly be played by Jimmy Stewart, and Papa's journal was totally a macguffin.

Surprised to find out that while this book is about Grace Kelly and her wedding, she in fact takes a back seat to an enjoyable love story that weaves it’s way throughout many years and somehow despite many setbacks still manages to bring a smile to your face. More fiction than I would’ve preferred but nonetheless a delightful read.
This story's focus is on the young French woman who designs a signature perfume for Grace Kelly's wedding day and an English photographer who is selected as one of the paparazzi to record the proceedings. Secondary is Grace Kelly's whirlwind romance and wedding preparations with Prince Rainier of Monaco. All told, it's a breezy read. Delightful fluff!

Splendid! Loved the setting and reading about the Riviera/Monaco through Sophie's eyes as a perfumer. Also enjoyed how the story was woven through historical events (including details of the clothing that Grace Kelly wore). I enjoyed googling photos of Grace as I read through the book. Also... I've already priced out a trip to the Riviera and Monaco after reading about these beautifully described landscapes.
A nice, simple book that was very relaxing to read. I would not call it a page turner. The love story is a bit lukewarm, but again nice? Sophie is a perfumer with a crappy Mom living in Monaco. She falls for James, a photographer from Britain. Grace Kelly is a figment of a character and her (true) story is stranger than fiction (the best thing about reading this book is that it lead me to google Kelly and her prince's wedding photos - yikes). I expected this to be more like Beatriz Williams's books, but it's just not as immersive or fun.
