The 3rd floor was set in a city environment and is when the players had to pick their race and class.

This city came with quests the players could get involved in.  I see the reason behind including these but I felt one of them wasn’t interesting enough to include and it dragged.  But I’m not against seeing if these quests come back in play.  I enjoyed the drastic change in environment from floor 1 & 2, I’m excited to see what other levels will be like.

Great ending, very intriguing!

Still witty, still great banter, still very adventurous.  Moments of great character development amongst the main cast and the NPCs too.

Donut and Carl’s relationship is really interesting and some really heartfelt moments allow this story to feel more nuanced rather than just an RPG novel.  Also they gained a little pet (in love with him)!

Comment after reading the 3rd book: Why did I dislike Kayla so much in this book, she became a favorite in the 3rd book.  This was a dip in enjoyment(small but noticeable), but the 3rd book brings it back up again!

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a review.

‼️ SLIGHT SPOILER ‼️

Donut chose former Child Star (name a better class for her), which came with the benefit of having Mordecai transform into the group’s manager.  This allowed him to become a more central figure and gave the readers more understanding of how the games worked.  I was wondering if something like this was going to happen and I really enjoyed it.

And Carl became a bomb guy (fits his character perfectly).

If you're a fan of the previous adventures of dungeon crawlers Donut, Carl, and Mongo, then this book is for you. In this series continuation, our crawlers have advanced to the third floor and continue their path forward to try to stay alive. It's fun, but also a bit tiresome in the repetitiveness of many of the elements. I am hoping for some change in the narrative direction, but I don't think I'll find it anytime soon.

On the plus note, I do enjoy the character antics!
