grotesquely erotic. first half was actually kind of good if you are someone with cnc fantasies and the grimms fairytale itself was already quite dark. it just devolved towards the end and i got sick of the dialogue between the other prince and beauty, it got awfully repetitive. i think exploring the taboo in fiction is necessary but don’t read this if you aren’t a fan of the heavily fetishized dark themes

I... I can't even.

This book is super rape-ey. Fairytale erotica piqued my interest, and it's Anne Rice who is amazing. But this was not hot in the least and I was uncomfortable 99% of the time.

I will say I was at least entertained while horrified, up until Alexi's story which I have zero shits about. I ended up skimming through most of that, but them after that point everything seemed super rushed!

I will probably give the second one a go, because they are quick reads and take zero brainwork. And Beauty seems to finally be a badass (we can hope). I just want her to have some retribution. I want some Braveheart shit to go down.

Over all:

I once had a customer at b&n tell me she didn't want just a rough steamy romance. No, she wanted degradation, pleasure torture, non consent, at her partners mercy type of book. At the time, I had no idea what to recommend to her, the books I knew of we didn't carry and they didn't hit her requests. I wish I knew this book existed for that customer. I hope someone was able to gift it to her. There's no real plot. The preface really explains where the authors mind was when recreating the sleeping beauty story. Not gonna lie it exhausted me. I can't even truly explain why it's getting 3 stars. It just is.

I was surprised at how little ramp-up there was. Just didn’t work for me.

And I thought [b:Fifty Shades of Grey|10818853|Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1)|E.L. Book. Ever.
