Loved this book, could not put it down! I was not sure how I felt about it at first because I did not care for any of the characters but I think that may have been the point. I like stories where you get to see a scene from multiple characters perspectives which made this story especially intriguing!
This was such a fun book! I loved the plot and the twists were unexpected and well written. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a good page-turner.
I almost didn’t finish this one, but glad I stuck it out. The opening was super intriguing, the characters were interesting. The middle got a little bogged down. I understand the perspective shifts but I found myself getting a bit lost in the rehashing of events instead of drawn in. I didn’t love the way everything ended but I’m ok with how it played out for the main characters.

Nina's mom has cancer and she needs money for treatment. Nina has been supporting her by meeting people and taking their expensive belongings and selling them. When the police catch on Nina is forced to run with her boyfriend Lochlan. Luckily Nina knows just the place. Lake Tahoe the home of her first heartbreak and a rich family with too much money.
Vanessa is a social media influencer. She was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and she has accomplished nothing with her life other than making a name for herself on Instagram. Vanessa has a beautiful home in Lake Tahoe. She has started renting out the caretakers cottage for content and company.
Nina has a history with this family. She loved Benny and has never really gotten over her heartbreak. Benny's life didn't go the way it should have and she has always wondered about them. As things come to a head the women are drawn to each other and repelled by each other at the same time.

I haven't had much time for extensive reading lately, but the set up of this book (with lots of backstory) allowed for me to engage with the story in dribbles and drabs...I remained intrigued by the plot and invested in seeing how things worked out for the main players: con artists, social media influencers, privileged few, impoverished many, etc. I felt empathy for the protagonists and antagonists alike--there are several plot twists that made me reconsider the roles of the main characters. A modern tale, with some deep insights, so not all marshmallow fluff!
