I remember the hype for this book when it first came out, but...I didn't love it. It was very middle of the road. It wasn't bad, and it was juuuust interesting to keep me listening to the audio to see what would happen, but not enough to where I was really looking forward to it. I feel like there's a good concept here, but the rehashing of the same scenes got old when there wasn't enough variation. I also expected it to be a darker story, and was disappointed when it wasn't. I think this might be a better one for people who are just starting out with domestic thrillers.

Probably a 3.5/5 for me but I’ve been torn on how to review and rate this. On one hand I loved so many things about the story and the characters. I enjoyed these two average women trying to be vindictive badasses. The conartistry wasn’t that enthralling or shocking but it almost contained a social demagoguery between all the main characters that was over-the-top dramatic entertainment. That was fun! But, on the other hand, it was exceedingly redundant because Janelle Brown tries to show each segment of the story from two different perspectives. While she leapfrogs the timing, she unnecessarily rehashes both sides of a conversation. Instead she could have done that sparingly and kept the story moving. There was also quite a bit that you could see coming, but I will say I was so glad I finished this because it has a lot more layers and twists than I anticipated. I also listened to the audio and unfortunately that helped with the speed of the book but still highlighted all of the writing and structure flaws. The story is strong enough that I think they can do a good series with it and I will also watch that.

So many dysfunctional characters! Nina returns to Tahoe to try to take advantage of a family that did her wrong…she needs $ for her mother’s medical bills…hard to buy some of the stuff that happens in the middle, but I was entertained enough.

This book was captivating enough. I wasnt dying over it. And I would say that it took well over half way for it to be really interesting. It switches back and forth between two different characters and their perspectives. Each of their stories were interesting and I was never bored. It’s hard for be to write an unbiased review because this just wasn’t the type of book that I die over. I like relationship driven books. And this is not the focus of this book. But overall, it was quick, easy and entertaining. I would recommend it to just about anyone. - ah and also beware of some language. Quite a few F words and few others that are even nastier than that!

Great book! Really good story line and was very interesting all the way till the end. I'm glad Nina was able to make something of her self in the end and owned up to the fact that she made bad choices.

I stayed interested but I thought it would have been more sitting on the edge of my seat. I also felt like there was a lot of info that we didn’t need but wanted more on other characters.
