Book review featuring one of my favorite thriller covers of the year!

This book was so fun you guys. It was such an interesting take on our current image centered / social media obsessed society and some of the huge potential downfalls of it.

Though our main characters were kind of unlikable they are definitely still relatable enough that you root for both of them. Which I definitely give Janelle Brown huge props for.
Their story definitely unravels slowly but in a way that still kept me hooked.

I loved everything. The twists, The Ending.
It just all worked for me.

Exactly the sort of thriller I enjoy for a nice spooky season read. Although parts of the story were a bit predictable and the epilogue tied things up a bit too nicely, I really enjoyed the climactic scene on the yacht and the character development through flashbacks in the first half.

This was a wild ride! You think you know where it's going, twisty just like the roads to Tahoe!

My quarantine life improved greatly when this book was placed in my hands. Pretty Things by Janelle Brown isn't like any other thriller out there, for one you'll actually remember this one.

Pretty Things has a lot to offer the reader. With the amazing and oh so bad female driven characters that you don't know if you should hate or feel sorry for, to the dark and twisty turns Brown places oh so perfectly throughout the book. Seriously, Just when you feel like the book might drag a bit Brown smacks you in the face with one of those twists that leaves you holding your face in shock.

Yeah I know, I may not write the best reviews or make a lot of sense, but if your wanting something fresh, creative, suspenseful, with a strong character driven story this one is for you. Pick it up cause once you do you won't be able to put it down.

If you're looking for a twisty little novel, I think you'll like this! A con woman & her partner target a family from her past. It's told from the perspective of both the conwoman & the main woman she's targeting, and goes back and forth over the same events from their different perspectives. It's not boring for a minute!

I really enjoyed this story and this writing. There were some twists and turns that I didn’t expect and it was just the right amount of suspense for right now when things are particularly heavy in the world and I am purposely trying to not weigh myself down further with scary/violent/ugly things. This one was pretty

Interesting premise with a fantastic start. Seeing the world through Nina's eyes, even with the trips to the past that slowed the pace was fascinating. Watching a group of cons interact and switch between what was supposed to be a con and what was actually real kept me reading. Where things started to fall apart for me was the introduction of the 2 narrator. Vapid, 2-dimensional, snotty, self-involved with nothing that differentiated her from a half dozen other antagonists in a half dozen other novels. There were a couple of twists that I didn't quite see coming, so I powered through the parts where I wanted to slap a piece of duct tape over Vanessa's mouth (including the long section where Nina was MIA). I actually kind of wish Lachlan had been the second narrator. It would have been an interesting juxtaposition to Nina. Anyway, I had hopes for a powerful final act. Unfortunately, all I got was disappointment. It ended on a whimper that was 1 step removed of sunshine and rainbows.
