I decided to try this book after taking a long break from “casual” reading. While the beginning was slow for me (although I’m difficult to please), I grew to love the characters through Janelle Brows brilliant writing style. This book made me laugh and gasp out loud with its constant twists and turns. I loved it! More importantly, Pretty Things gave me the drive to continue reading for fun! I definitely recommend :)

Well, hot damn! This was a page turner filled with so many twists. Maybe one too many twists, but it was pretty entertaining when you reached the end of Nina or Vanessa's section and one of them dropped a bombshell. The two perspectives of the same events was really nice to read and I never imagined the story to end the way it did.

It was hard for me to imagine someone who practices yoga and meditates being vindictive like one of the characters in this book. It was ok but kind of predictable. A good escape from the presidential election fraud allegations.

I was captivated immediately with Nina’s POV. I enjoyed reading this and seeing how the plot was going to play out. I even was still engaged once it got to Vanessa’s POV. But Vanessa’s chapters started to drag on and on. This is when the book lost my attention and I was just reading to get to the end and see what happens. I liked the ending but the lagging through the second half of the book, brought it down for me.

At times, this book felt drawn out, and other times as if parts, were vague. I did enjoy the book. I had a love/ hate relationship with Nora. I read this book in 24 hours so it wasn't bad, but I didn't love it. It was enjoyable, even if a bit predictable. It looks as if there might be a second, and if so, I will read it.

Pretty Things surprised me in the best way possible! I wasn't quite sure how this story was going to go when I picked up this book but this was one of the books I read through and thought "Wow, that was a really good book!"

Pretty Things is a story mainly surrounding two woman from two very different worlds. We have Nina, who is a con artist and Vanessa is an heiress to a wealthy family. Their different worlds collide with one another when Nina sets her eyes out as Vanessa for her next target. It is no mistake that Nina targets Vanessa for reasons other than her wealth. Nina and her boyfriend, Lachlan rent out a cottage outside of Vanessa's family home to get close to her using an alias.

The reader gets to perspective of both Nina and Vanessa and I personally loved getting the thoughts of them both as this whole charade carries out. Although we have to read about the same situation a few times, it is told from a completely different character which makes the reader feel like they are hearing a different story. The book surprised me with its twists and turns, but I loved every second of it! Janelle Brown did a wonderfully job writing this novel with careful thought and planning. Every part in the book was all important that tied into the entire story.

Overall, wonderful read and kept me entertained the entire time. Would highly recommend!

Perfect quarantine reading

This is not my typical book, and I got it without knowing that it was about. This was a really well written story about a woman who turns to being a conartist to help save her mother's life with many twists and turns.
