I liked it, but it wasn’t a favorite
Wow, this was my best stand alone read so far this year. Bit of a slow, eye-roll of a start, but stick with it. The duel narrative keeps you on the edge of your seat, and after the midway point I could not put it down.
one of my all time favorite books :)) a twisty, clever story told in a way that makes two polar opposite women so similar behind closed doors; and brings you along as they discover that. Very fun book to read, but wouldn’t call it a thriller either.

Not as much of a thriller as I had wanted but still an interesting read with a good ending.
Good plot but needed some serious editing! Way too wordy. I thought I had it figured out early on and then it took some twists that made me doubt my guess but it circled back nicely.
Thought this was going to be gayer than it was but was a great book regardless!
Still reeling from thetwist about her mother. That was so incredibly cruel I am going to be thinking about it for a long time.
Still reeling from the
Enjoyable audiobook. Lots of twists and turns with interesting character development and revelations.
****4 Engaging Stars
Summary: Character driven heist story filled with "pretty things" including people, jewelry, scenery, huge estates, beautiful clothes and antique furniture. What will people do to get their hands on those pretty things? Are material items more important than feeling valued, seen, loved, understood?
Scene: A forest of emerald green pines carpeting the mountainside from top to bottom, a sweeping view of steely blue, icey Lake Tahoe, an historic family estate filled to the brim with precious antiques and valuable objets d'art.
Characters: Nina and Lachlan, partners in heists and crime. Benny and Vanessa Liebling, heirs to the Liebling fortune and rich kids extraordinaire. Lily, Nina's mom, the original con artist using her skills to survive as a single mom, dragging Nina along with her whenever she has to move, which is quite often.
Audible Narration: Excellent! Narrated by Julia Whelan & Lauren Fortgang. It's LONG, over 16 hours. A bit wordy and a bit redundant in parts as you get two sides of the story from the two protagonists. Overall, the story grew stronger as it progressed, propelling the listener forward.
Recommended for those patient readers who love character driven mystery/thriller/heist stories with lots of character arc.
