Really solid story. There is a bigger one brewing too, so I'm anticipating even better things to come.

This fifth entry in the Rivers of London series doesn't disappoint.

Note: this review doesn't spoil this story, but may contain spoilers from earlier books in the series.

In this outing Peter goes to the Welsh countryside to help the local police in their search for two missing 11-year-old girls.

Peter's investigation uncovers a possible link to the Fae folk, so he soon finds himself trying to keep his special talents hidden from the general public while following proper police procedures and sharing what he can with the local cops.

Along the way, Peter gets help from his old friend the goddess Beverly Brook. He also meets a retired wizard and his granddaughter, who seems to have an affinity with bees. Finally, Peter learns some interesting things about the local Fae world and some insight into the Folly housekeeper, Molly.

Annnnnd then there's Leslie. When we last saw her, she tasered Peter and teamed up with the Faceless Man. So, why is she texting Peter and what does want?

I don't want to say too much about the book because it's more fun to be surprised by what happens. This is one of my favorite entries so far, and I'm looking forward to book 6.

Don't miss this series in audio: narrator Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is fantastic! Seriously great.

This book is in my personal library.

Good mystery as well as development of the longer series arc. I find the Peter Grant books to be charming in both their detail and their world view.

After the shock ending of the previous book, I felt obliged to plough on with the next to keep up the impetus. In which Peter leaves London for a routine check in association with the disappearance of two local girls and becomes drawn into the case because the local police are utterly at a loss and willing to let the weirdos from the magic squad have a go, which he does, and suddenly, unicorns are chasing him about the woods on a moonlit night.
