I wasn’t happy when I had to put down the book before I was finished, I was hooked from the beginning. I had an inkling of what they were going to turn it into, but I was surprised at the ending! It was not what I expected, but a must read.

Just as I thought I knew what the truth was it was get completely twisted around. Such a good page turner.

I have been a fan of Mr. Palmer's late father's work. From the first book I read of the late Palmer to the last book with Mr. Palmer's collaboration I enjoyed every book. I agree with the publisher that this book should be written under D.J. Palmer and not under Michael Palmer. This is because Mr. Palmer's work should be celebrated as his own. So happy to continue the reading journey with the Palmer family name.

This book starts out strong and doesn't really lost momentum. It continues all the way through the book until the last page. In fact; the further I got into the story, I more I became hooked. The last third of the story picked up steam. Mr. Palmer had me on the edge of my seat with Saving Meghan! A must read. Mr. Palmer is an author to watch out for.

(My top books of 2019)

"Psychological domestic suspense meets heart-pounding medical thriller.”

WOW, A riveting, chilling new thriller with strong character-development, infuses the best of medical thrillers of Michael Palmer (dad) and the award-winning gripping suspense of Daniel Palmer.

I LOVE the new D.J. Palmer's name! No matter the initials or the title, I have been a fan of both authors for many years and a favorite. As long as it has the Palmer name attached— readers are assured an entertaining page-turner experience.

I am so thrilled Daniel has continued his dad’s legacy and adding in medical thrillers to his collection of psychological suspense thrillers with a wide range of topics. I love all Daniel Palmer's books. A rock star, whether Daniel, Michael (dad), Daniel and Michael joint, or D.J! Love the new name by combining the two (father/son) and with St. Martin's Press.

SAVING MEGHAN will keep you guessing to the very end! Twisty, dark, fascinating! If you love psychological/medical thrillers, you are going to devour this one.

This family of three (Becky, Carl, and Meghan) has some deep dark secrets. What a wild roller coaster ride. Is it Munchhausen by proxy, or something more serious? How far will a mother go to protect her daughter?

Emotionally gripping domestic suspense! Nothing screams “claustrophobia” more than highly charged topics revolving around medical conditions and the control of a medical physician, hospital, or a parent making decisions for a child under fire.

Palmer keeps you on the edge-of-your-seat with nail-biting suspense and non-stop action and twists, to the explosive ending.

Becky Gerard is a helicopter mom. You could say she has devoted her life to the well-being of her daughter, Meghan. Becky sees outside sources to learn more about her daughter’s illness. She will do anything for her daughter. (The plane scene was award-winning). This novel would make a great movie or TV series!

I felt like this book was repetitive and I felt very detached from the characters and story. I'm surprised I finished it, but I had to see how it ended. I found the ending rather far-fetched. I was really hoping to love this book as I've not read anything with a similar story line, but it fell very short for me.

I received a complimentary copy of Saving Meghan from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Saving Meghan begins with Becky on a plane about to leave Boston for Los Angeles to see her dying mother. Her daughter, Meghan, has had a strange illness for years and after receiving a text from her husband that Meghan is in the hospital, Becky forces the plane back to the terminal. Becky believes her daughter and has taken her to see many doctors to try to figure out what's wrong, while Becky's husband, Carl, believes it's Becky's messed up childhood that's making her think Meghan is sick when she isn't. Carl finds a new doctor, Dr. Zach, who thinks Meghan has mitochondrial disease. Meghan is secretly taken to the mental health ward while Becky and Carl are in the emergency waiting room. The mental health professionals think Meghan's illness is in her mind and her mother is charged with Münchausen syndrome by proxy. The rest of the story is a roller coaster that'll keep you guessing till the end.

Boston, Massachusetts, Skyline, Downtown, Urban

The writing style was a little strange for me at first because two perspectives (Becky and Zach) are told in third person, while Meghan's is first person point of view. They are all unreliable and unlikable, which made me second-guess myself and not trust any of them.

Becky, 48 years-old, is described as "annoyingly thin". What's that all about? The women are painted as "bad", and pretty much all the women doubted themselves, had anxiety or a mental health issue.

› I would have liked to have seen more diversity and gender equality. It would have been fantastic to have had more scenes with Becky's mother, Cora.

First Impressions of Saving Meghan by D.J. Palmer ...

› Unrealistic incidents made Saving Meghan feel corny. I did figure out one part of the mystery but blindsided by another piece. It's refreshing when a mystery/thriller has a smaller cast, and the big reveal is a character that isn't some stranger on the sidelines.

› Parenthood, in particular mother/daughter relationships, is a big theme in this novel. As a mother, my heart broke for Becky and I often found myself taking her side.

› Dr. Zach is the one character that I liked for the entire story. After his son died from mitochondrial disease Zach became an expert in the field and some have accused him of over-diagnosing the disease. My heart broke for him. I just wanted him to have a happy ending.

Truth and trust also play a big part in this thriller. Becky is on the verge of losing her sanity and she somehow needs to figure out who she can trust. After twenty years of marriage, Becky and Carl learn just how much their marriage can be tested.

› The big question is, how far would you go to save your child?

A few years ago my daughter was experiencing strange stomach pains for about a year. I brought her to our family doctor and the emergency room and they would send us home saying she's probably just constipated. No one was listening to what we said and it was incredibly frustrating. Thankfully, after pushing for a referral we were able to see a Pediatric Gastroenterologist who was extremely thorough and able to fix the problem. If her pain would have continued for years as it did for Meghan, I probably would have become just as angry as Becky.

› I liked the ending even though I did guess a part of the mystery early-on.
With secrets, lies, and drama, Saving Meghan is an exciting read, great for fans of domestic thrillers and medical mysteries.

My goodness Meghan, you can’t seem to catch a break. I enjoyed this book. I thought is was going to be a little boring but it wasn’t. It does start off a little slow but it picks up the pace and it’s surprisingly good. At first, I didn’t know who or what to believe. Why is Meghan always sick? Why is a her mother always around? I never suspected the person at fault.

I thought the writing was padded and overall it just didn't intrigue me.
