One of my favorite books from the "Horse book of the month" subscription I got from Santa at about 7 years old. Nothing, other than the pony I asked for constantly (not concerned with the fact that we lived in the suburbs just 1.5 miles from the Detroit border) but never got could have been more meaningful.
Ironically, I was fortunate enough starting at 11 yrs old to be involved in a riding program via Girl Scouts which was based on a farm owned by one of the most famous polo players in the Midwest, John F. Ivory. My life would not have been anything like it is these 50 years later when I'm fortunate to have horses outside my windows.
