I struggled to finish this one. I think I almost DNFed about 4 times but powered through.

The main character is awful. She's very underwritten and not fleshed out at all other than called "smart" and "quirky". I don't think I learned anything more about her from page 1 till the end, who she really was as a person. She engages in bad behavior such as blackmail, breaking and entering, theft, and manipulation of her friends in order to trick them into giving her answers, and never gets called out for it, to the extent you really have to raise your suspension of disbelief beyond reasonable levels. No one acts like a real person! They just spill all their secrets to a high schooler because the plot demands it.

I gave it a 2/5 stars, but only because I was able to finish it.

This was my second time reading this book, because I wanted it fresh in my mind for the adaptation coming in a couple weeks and it did not disappoint!

Everyone knows what happened five years ago. Popular high school student Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. Five years later, and the case is closed and solved, but Pip just knows there is more to the story. Disguised as a senior project, Pip delves into the case that rocked her small town, determined to discover the truth, whatever the cost.

I loved this book the first time around, and the second was no different! I adore Pip, I relate to her on so many levels and she’s just such an enjoyable character! I also love Ravi, and the pair of them together are just so cute!

In terms of the storyline and format of this book, I really enjoy when books are formatted a little differently, and the addition of Pip’s notes, interviews and the rest of her findings works really well in this book.

I really enjoyed the storyline, it’s quite typical YA Mystery/Thriller but in the best way possible!

Overall, I loved this book and I can’t wait for the TV show!
