I really liked it! But... I don't think I'll read the next one.

It's far from top quality writing, but I really liked the representation here. From the fiery curvy girl to the arrogant scared of love boy. I think they made a great pair.
The characters were what did it for me: Stevie struggles with her body image while doubting her self-worth, yet being a badass when standing up for herself. As someone who also shares some of her struggles, seeing the natural fluctuation between confidence vs insecurities represented in such a respectful way won me over. Not to mention the great focus on mental health and healing for one's own betterment. Zee finally facing his fears toward both his parents after the greatest self-sabotage of all had me rooting for him.

I got scared for a second there when a potential miscommunication trope was hinted at, but fortunately it turned into Zee being an idiot and then taking advantage of that idiocy to achieve incredible growth, along with Vee realizing she's strong enough to choose herself and own her worth.

That being said, the story was fairly simple and predictable, and I don't think I'll get such amazing characters in the next books. So, I'm going to hold off on reading those for now.

But I'm definitely open to a different road.

PS. The smut was awesome, these guys understood the assignment.

The book was good, your typical sports romance, but I personally felt like it could have been shorter and should of had a trigger warning list at the beginning, or at least a message from the author mention some of the topics which were going to be discussed

While this was a big chonker of a book, it didn't drag on nearly as much as I expected it to. The writing and humor were entertaining, and while I have a few complaints about some parts of this story, overall it was a really fun and sweet read.

I really appreciated the plus size representation. It took me a while to warm up to Zanders but he turned out to be a cinnamon roll (albeit a cocky one). I love how unwavering he was in supporting Stevie on her journey to appreciate herself more.

The spice was spicing, the chemistry was sizzling, the banter was giving me life, and the clear communication was an added bonus.

3 "Are you following me" Stars โญ๏ธ

I read this book a while ago, and all I really remember is that it felt meh and way too long.

๐™Ž๐™ฎ๐™ฃ๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™จ๐™ž๐™จ:
Zanders is a typical playboy, with a different girl every single night in every single city where he plays an away game. He keeps a list on his phone, and itโ€™s rarely the same girl twice. This persona is partly crafted by his agent because it brings in the money, but deep down, thatโ€™s not who Zanders truly is. It just takes him a while to figure out that constant playboy antics arenโ€™t as fun as he thought. Their private charter team plane gets a new flight crew, which brings in Stevie Shay, who immediately does not fall for Zandersโ€™s charm when sheโ€™s doing the exit row briefing. Zanders decides he likes her challenge and on purpose tries to get a rise out of her until she ends up in his bed. Thereโ€™s definitely sexual attraction between them, but Stevie has vowed never to date another professional sports player. But fate keeps putting them in the same circles, and when Stevie wants a little fun but no heartache, who better to provide it than sexy Zanders who canโ€™t wait to slide into her panties?

๐™๐™๐™ค๐™ช๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™๐™š๐™š๐™ก๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™จ:
I really liked Stevie. Sheโ€™s a bit curvier than most "typical" girls in magazines and self-conscious about her appearance and her self-worth, always feeling like sheโ€™s never been valued by anyone but her brother. Her mother expected her to be some perfect pageant princess, which isnโ€™t who she is, and constantly put her down while uplifting her brother because heโ€™s a star athlete. As a result, Stevie is very hard on herself, closed off, and finds it tough to show vulnerability.

Zanders, on the other hand, fears commitment because of his abandonment issues. His mom left his dad, and whenever she reaches out, she only wants money. Also when his mom left, his dad only focused on his work. So Zanders feels unlovable and unworthy, thinking he doesnโ€™t deserve happiness and most especially doesn't think he deserves love.

The initial tension between them is spectacular! Their banter was on point, funny, spicy, and they could stand toe-to-toe with each other. They grew into friends who helped each other work through their trauma, forming a sweet bond. It was adorable how each one made the otherโ€™s dreams and ambitions their own. It was just wholeheartedly cute!

I also really appreciated the supportive, wholesome side characters. Eli and his family brought that โ€œfound familyโ€ vibe to Zanders, eventually welcoming Stevie into the mix, which was cute and endearing. Every scene with them made me smile, letting us see the real Zanders behind the media playboy image. Watching him dote on his "niece" hinted at what heโ€™d be like if he had a family of his own AND IT WAS SO CUTE!

Why the book ended up as "meh" for me in the end is even though their trauma is valid, it took ages for them to deal with it. The book felt like it was trying to be more emotionally deep than it needed to be, adding an extra 150 pages of them navigating trauma even after they were together. It dragged out the story longer than necessary and could have wrapped up more succinctly.
