I have absolutely no idea what addiction is like but if it's anything like this story it'll stay a hard pass for me, thank you. If you want a happy ending you're reading the wrong book, it's brutal, psychologically messed up and also.. I want to say funny? CRACK!!! don't do drugs or kill people

Not at all what I expected, but anything from McCluskey never is! A great ride start to finish.

Joe gets into a terrible traffic accident and ends up killing someone. He starts to get psychotic delusions and nightmares. When he thinks he’s dreaming he does crazy things to hurt the ones and things he loves, but in reality it’s not a dream. Joe sees a man in a cracked motorcycle helmet that tells him to do terrible things. He starts a killing rampage of prostitutes and that’s the jiff of the story. I was really enjoying the beginning of the book when he had those psychotic exposures that he thought were dreams, but then it just got dull to me. It seemed like just a repetitive thing after. Why did he want to kill all these prostitutes!! I love D.E. Mccluskey’s books, but this one didn’t do it for me.

OMG this is a ride!
Addiction is the worst, this is not what you think though!

Fast-paced psychological thriller with splatterpunk elements.  If you don’t have too many triggers go read this book !

Hold on to your seat for this one because it will give you nightmares you didn’t think were possible.

Ian is a normal guy, has a wife and two kids, and works the Night Shift at a construction site. Until one day he has a bad accident and runs over a motorcyclist and this incident changes Ian’s life forever. Ian’s mind and life spins totally out of control and he does everything he can in to stop the madness that took over his mind. CRACK… CRACK..

This book is not for the squeamish. There is gore and blood, some animals will get hurt and violence.

I highly recommend this book if you’re into reading about people going down in a downward spiral.

Joe O’Hara was a normal family guy. Working the night shift as a security guard, all he wanted to do was to provide for his family. That was until he was involved on a fatal accident with a biker, then all he wanted to was to feed his addiction.
As you are reading this story, you are following Joe as he struggles to come to terms with the accident. Unable to sleep and the images playing through his mind, most people would go and see a counsellor and talk through his issues , Joe has an usual way of revolving his issues.
This is a dark read, and there is tension throughout. As you are reading this story, you feel that you are there, watching Joe getting his fix and it had a similar feel to when you drive past an accident and instinctively you have to look what happened. “Crack”, that was your warning and you knew what was coming. There are not many books that make me grimace when I am reading it but this is one of them.
The involvement of Detective Paula Ashton and her fiancé Officer Ian Locke makes this story more feel real, as you follow them whilst they are preparing to get married. There were times where I had to stop and compose myself as I could not believe where this story was going. This book has its own addiction as you want to see if Joe is linked to the events.
I have read Twelve by this author and this is nothing like it. This is savage, it will shock you and you will be gripped. A psychological horror that when you hear the noise “Crack”, you will think of this book.

Much darker than I expected, but not in a bad way! Weird but I somewhat thought I was getting into a horror version of the action film Crank after reading the synopsis?

CRACK!

Even weirder were all of the bizarre signs I received while reading this book.
An Owl City song called "Cave In" played on shuffle immediately after reading this on my work break and the lyrics changed the entire song's meaning for me permanently.
Earlier today (also after a work break), I saw an open package with a motorcycle helmet pass by on a factory belt. An hour later, I got an Amazon notification about deals on motorcycle helmets and to finish off the day, a girl I work with was telling me she had a motorcycle license test the next day. So I knew I had to finish this book tonight and did just that! Needless to say, it boosted the eerie mood of the book and the creepiness level was maxed out.

CRACK!

A small handful of the early chapters felt like filler and the writing started off weak but the second half of the book is VERY strong. Fun random pickup and I'm glad I stuck with it.
