Pretty disappointing. The last half hour was good but slogging through ten hours of meh was not worth the payoff. And then the last 5 minutes? Ugh. Whatevs.
I’m sorry that I wasted an audible credit on this.
I hated Behind Her Eyes but thought I’d give this one a chance. No more Sarah Pinborough for me.

Super weird book. Didn’t get to the mystery part of the book until page 252. Lots of weird sex scenes and black magic is mentioned multiple times. None of the characters were likable and the plot unexciting up until the crime was finally committed! Once you got really into the mystery part of the book it became a much better read, hence the two stars. If you’re a true mystery/thriller fan I wouldn’t read. More like the mystery was an after thought.
Pretty good read. Twists and turns, kept me guessing. A little bit corny on the ending but overall a fun book!

It’s the battle of the gold diggers-or is it? Dead To Her selves into the dark side of Southern (Savannah, Georgia to be specific) culture, by focusing on the young and beautiful second wives. Marcie is married to Jason whose been keeping secrets from her, causing Marcie to fear leading her wealthy status and go back to being the broke girl she was before she started an affair with Jason. Keisha is a transplant from London who married widower William in an attempt to break free from her oppressive Nigerian family. The two women begin to bond over their similarities in the oppressive Southern society and eventually begin a relationship. This is when the novel segue-ways into a thrilling combination of sex, drugs, money and voodoo. I really enjoyed the twists in this novel, especially when it came to the voodoo aspect. I’ve always been fascinated by it ever since I went to New Orleans. I thought the way that Savannah society was portrayed was brilliant, especially when it delved deep into the darker side of Savannah. I also enjoyed seeing all of the hypocrisy pointed out in the novel about rich men, bojuee women and straight, white, Christian, wealthy southern culture.
