The plot jumps around rather a lot, so it’s not always clear what the point of each chapter is. An interesting enough read, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as the other ‘Jackson Brodie’ book I read

The premise of this book was promising; one strange outburst of road-rage connects five strangers in a series of events that get more complicated by the minute. An interesting concept, that fell rather flat.
Atkinson is clearly a gifted novelist, her prose is exceptional. Each character was both independent, and strikingly different, making the merging of their desires and motivations subtle, yet lasting.
Unfortunately, the pacing of this book ruined it for me. The characters, whilst unique, were uninteresting, and at times, rather bland. I found myself putting the book down, with no intention of picking it back up again, on more than one occasion. If the book was shorter by 100 pages, then maybe it might have had a chance. Additionally, the ultimate "payoff" for the reader was anticlimactic, and undermined much of the novel, without adding anything new.
A solid read, but the stilted pacing was too much for me.
