For a book that was blurbed by JKR herself, this wasn't that great.

I adored these books when I was younger, so I decided to give them another go! Unfortunately, I did find that these weren't as accessible as a more mature reader, but the story is still as brilliant as it always was.

I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series again, and I think I'll have to try and read some of his adult books.

I’ve started on the re-read journey of my favorite series from middle school, and I finished the first book in a single day! Practically unprecedented for me lol. I was afraid that starting to read something that I was so fully obsessed with as a pre-pubescent would ruin my memory/experience with it, but I gotta say reading it felt EXACTLY the same as the first time. The only thing I had an issue with was how many time Madam Octa is referred to as being “poisonous”, when spiders are venomous lol, but for a book for kids I can forgive it (this once).

I read these books back in middle school and absolutely loved them so I decided to check them out again. Interesting premise, definitely juvenile though. I remember them getting quite serious by the end, so I’m definitely going to keep reading.
