I read these books back in middle school and absolutely loved them so I decided to check them out again. Interesting premise, definitely juvenile though. I remember them getting quite serious by the end, so I’m definitely going to keep reading.

I won't be continuing in this series. It wasn't fun or exciting, it was creepy. I don't want creepy.

Surprised that this was a little darker than what I expected. A good introduction to the series and the world Darren Shan is building. I read and loved his Lord Loss series. I meant to start this series years ago and I’m glad to finally dive into it.

Darren is an interesting character to follow and I’m excited to see how this universe continues to expand and how the author puts his spin on the vampire mythos.

ENDING: Darren decides to be the vampire’s assistant to save his friend’s life. His death is faked and now he’s off to explore the world of vampires
