Nick and Charlie are best friends, and continue to spend more and more time together. Charlie has a huge crush on Nick, and is sure the Nick doesn't like him romantically. Nick is battling with his identity, and the idea of coming out to his loved ones.

💭 T H O U G H T S

Heartstopper: Volume Two picks up where the first installment leaves off. In this volume we get to know more about Nick, which I absolutely loved. It's his coming-of-age story as he struggles with understanding his own identity as a bisexual person, and the process of coming out to his loved ones.

The romance between Charlie and Nick continues to blossom. Nellie, the dog, is back and plays a nice role in the narrative. And Nick's mom was a welcome addition. I appreciate the contrasting perspectives, as this paints an accurate picture of what the coming-out experience can be like for some.

Alice Oseman continues to balance a charming, heartwarming story, while intertwining some really important topics. The simplicity of the artwork continues to perfectly covey emotions and expressions.

This volume provided a realistic perspective on the internal struggles of sexual identity, while also providing an informative narrative that sexuality is a spectrum and not simply black and white. I am looking forward to continuing Nick and Charlie's story in the next volume.
