Actually a devotional for Advent, but didn't get to it then. Easy reading. Takes you through the stories of the Bible leading up to the birth of Christ.

I have this in paperback, but I managed to snag the Kindle version for free, and it was so nice to read each day's section in the semi-darkness of early morning. I really like how this book weaves in the entire Bible history; the nativity isn't an isolated incident. And it helps me imagine all the events with real people. I also really like the Andrew Peterson album of the same title, which is a mix of original songs and Christmas carols.

I've had my eyes on this book for years and I'm so glad I picked up a used copy this year. I loved seeing the story of Jesus unfold throughout Scripture. It reminded me of the Jesus Storybook Bible, how every part of Scripture whispers his name. The final chapter was especially beautiful.
A lovely, challenging, informative, contemplative Advent read.
Great book for Advent
This book is an excellent Advent reading. The author ties in Scripture in a beautiful way. He goes through the whole Bible storyline leading up to the birth of Jesus and fills in some thought-provoking historical details along the way.

Russ Ramsey is a joy to read on any subject, and his "Advent Narrative" sets the stage for the incarnation beautifully. He starts way back in the history of Israel, showing how the Messiah was promised, giving one a sense for how the Messiah was anticipated, and providing a fresh desire to and vocabulary of praise upon Christ's birth.

This was the most beautiful advent narrative I have ever read. From Genesis to Revelation, the story of Christ's birth and our salvation is a wonder to behold.
