The Correspondent is an epistolary novel about the life of Sybil Van Antwerp, her history, children, friends, brother, and other correspondents. Sybil seems to do her best communicating through the writing of letters and carries on all her relationships through writing.

This book is brilliant. I found myself not wanting to put it down as the writing is so phenomenal and the story engaging. Evan’s has written a truly compelling story with a main character who is so realized that one almost forgets she isn’t real. She’s a bit curmudgeonly, humorous, smart, sad, sharp, and loving. The novel is compelling and emotional and ends beautifully. I hesitate to say too much because I would not want to spoil the book for other readers. If you love wonderful stories with amazing characters, read this book!
