It was decently written, though some decisions that the characters made seemed a bit out of touch with the period. And, to be honest, the whole scandal with the mother would have warranted Lily's shunning by the Ton. She wouldn’t have been able to have a Season, absolutely nobody would have invited her anywhere. An Earl wouldn’t have had the necessary clout to make it happen. Also, Grey, the son of a steward and a housekeeper, being accepted into high society was farfetched, no matter that he had the Earl’s sponsorship. And, leaving those things aside (really challenging my ability to suspend my disbelief here), the mystery wasn’t a mystery at all. The clues were so blatantly spoon-fed to the reader that the supposedly clever spies looked extremely stupid for not figuring it out much sooner, since they all possessed the same information. They knew more than the reader, in fact, since a lot of what they know is revealed at different times throughout the book. Still, I could tell who the villain was from the start.
One point in its favor, though, Lilly was somewhat resourceful, and she did come out as willful (not just a bitch), and independent (not entitled). She still made some very stupid decisions, though.

Smut, but surprisingly well written. Interesting plot and background characters with a modern female view. Page turner!

A romantic, fun and sexy "brother's best friend" historical romance. I liked that there was just the right amount of pining, guilt and "shit, her brother's gonna kill me". I also liked that as the plot got thicker, Lily wasn't always a victim, but an equal partner who could defend herself.

Also, that chapter at Fieldstones was So Hot.

We have Lily a fiery young woman and her brothers best friend Gray, spymaster and childhood crush. They haven't seen each other in 8 years, and Gray loses a bet to Rafe(her brother) meaning he needs to watch over her during her season.
Gray shows up in a mood about having to watch over his friends gawky tomboy sister, and has his attention snagged by a stunning beauty that he can't help but steal for a dance. He flirts and teases not realizing who she is, which is fun to watch.
This is a fun little espionage story that got me started reading romance. It held up well on reread.
