I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would. The characters felt a little bit flat to me and I didn't feel connected to them. I enjoyed some elements of the historical plot, but didn't really enjoy the plot of the present day timeline, it felt a little bit boring to me. The story was well rounded and had a full conclusion, which was good.

I really didn't like the pace or descriptions of the women and how dumb some of them acted. I didn't like how the main characters acted at all.

I tried another of the authors book, The London Seance Society. This one is a little better but not by much.

This story had so much potential and just fell flat in the end. Nella and Eliza were such interesting characters and I wanted to love their relationship but it felt forced. The author was trying to create parallels between Nella and Caroline and that it could have been done but it wasn't well executed either. I wanted so much more from this story and sadly it didn't deliver.
